For processes where hygiene matters

In the food industry, pharmaceuticals and cleanrooms, a pallet must not be a source of contamination. Wooden pallets absorb moisture, can go mouldy and leave splinters and fibres behind. Plastic pallets do not have these problems. A hygienic pallet goes one step further: it has a smooth, closed design that you can clean quickly and thoroughly.

The range

  • Hygienic pallets 1200 x 800 mm: closed or open deck on 3 runners, 7,500 kg static and up to 1,750 kg in racking.
  • H1 Euro pallet: the well-known pallet from the meat industry, with open deck on 3 runners.
  • Hygienic pallets 1200 x 1000 mm: closed deck on 3 runners, up to 2,000 kg racking load.
  • Cleanroom pallets: pallets with closed deck on 3 or 5 runners for cleanrooms and other controlled environments.
  • Industrial pallet 1200 x 1000 mm: a robust pallet with open deck for intensive industrial use.

HACCP, GMP and food safety

What makes a pallet hygienic?

A hygienic pallet has a smooth design that is as closed as possible, without seams and corners where dirt and bacteria build up. The pallet does not absorb moisture, can withstand intensive cleaning and has no splinters or nails.

What is an H1 pallet?

The H1 pallet is a plastic pallet in Euro pallet size that was originally developed as a pool pallet for the meat industry. Today, the entire food industry uses it. Our H1 Euro pallet has an open deck on 3 runners.

Are hygienic pallets made from virgin or recycled plastic?

Our hygienic pallets are made of virgin plastic, the norm for direct contact with food. All other Q-Pall pallets are made of recycled plastic. They are a sustainable choice for packaged products, where the pallet does not come into direct contact with the food. We are happy to advise you on the right choice.

Can I clean hygienic pallets in a pallet washer or tunnel washer?

Plastic pallets can withstand cleaning with water, high pressure and cleaning agents. Ask us about the maximum temperature and suitable agents for the model you choose.
