The challenge

In the food industry, the requirements for hygiene and food safety are high. Pallets must not be a source of contamination. At the same time, they need a consistent weight and fixed dimensions for automated lines. And in cold stores and freezer rooms, they must remain strong at low temperatures.

Why plastic pallets?

  • Easy to clean: smooth surfaces without seams where dirt can build up.
  • Resistant to moisture and chemicals, so they also withstand intensive cleaning.
  • No splinters or nails that end up in your product or machines.
  • Long service life and more economical than wood over the entire service life.
  • Fully recyclable.

Virgin or recycled?

For direct food contact, use a pallet made of virgin plastic, which poses no risk of contamination. For packaged products, where the pallet does not come into direct contact with the food, our other pallets made of recycled plastic are a sustainable choice. Our hygienic pallets are made of virgin plastic, all other Q-Pall pallets of recycled plastic.

HACCP

Do you work according to HACCP? Then you want to keep the risk of contamination as low as possible. A pallet that does not absorb moisture, does not go mouldy and is easy to clean helps you do that.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a plastic pallet come into direct contact with food?

For direct food contact, virgin plastic is the standard. That is why our hygienic pallets are made of virgin plastic. All other Q-Pall pallets are made of recycled plastic and are suitable if the food is packaged and does not lie directly on the pallet. We are happy to help you choose the right version.

Are plastic pallets suitable for freezer rooms?

Yes, plastic pallets remain strong at low temperatures. Bear in mind that plastic becomes stiffer below freezing and more sensitive to hard impacts. Use freezer spacers to freeze your products faster.

What is an H1 pallet?

The H1 pallet is a hygienic plastic Euro pallet that was developed for the meat industry and is now used throughout the food industry.
