The challenge

The beverage industry has complex logistics, from brewery or bottling plant to distribution all over the world. Pallets must carry heavy loads, be easy to handle and fit into fully automated warehouses. Sustainability, hygiene and safety in the workplace also play a major role.

Why plastic pallets?

  • Longer service life than wooden pallets, so less replacement.
  • Resistant to moisture and easy to clean.
  • No splinters or sharp edges, safer for employees.
  • Light but strong for heavy loads.
  • Suitable for automation and space-saving to stack.
  • Fully recyclable.

The Ultra pallet

Together with brands such as Coca-Cola, Heineken, Bavaria, Vrumona, Pepsi, Grolsch and AB InBev, we developed the Ultra pallet: a heavy-duty pallet of 1200 x 1000 x 165 mm with anti-slip on the top and bottom. It carries up to 1,375 kg in pallet racking, without metal reinforcements.

In 2023, we delivered the first pallet of a large order to Drankenpallet Beheer Nederland (the Dutch beverage pallet pool). Up to 2034, we will produce at least one million pallets for this pool at our factory in Balk. Read more about pooling.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which pallet does the Dutch beverage industry use?

Among others, Q-Pall supplies Drankenpallet Beheer Nederland (DPB), the pallet pool of the Dutch beverage industry. For this pool, we will produce at least one million pallets at our factory in Balk up to 2034.

Why anti-slip for beverage pallets?

Crates, trays and shrink-wrapped packs can easily shift. Anti-slip on the top keeps the load in place, and anti-slip on the bottom stops the pallet itself from sliding on forks and roller conveyors.

Are plastic pallets suitable for automated warehouses?

Yes. They have fixed dimensions and a consistent weight and do not warp from moisture. As a result, they run smoothly over roller conveyors and through AGV and crane systems.
