How the Stack-Up Pallet cuts walking movements by 70%

Together with Kwakman Afbouw, Q-Pall developed a plastic pallet for the building site. Less carrying, less waste and faster interior finishing. The launch is planned for the first quarter of 2027.

In short

  • The Stack-Up Pallet is a plastic pallet for construction, developed by Kwakman Afbouw and Q-Pall.
  • Each pallet carries forty plasterboards and is hoisted to the right floor during the shell construction phase.
  • Result: 70% fewer walking movements, less physical strain and a cleaner building site.
  • Nestable: five to six times as many pallets fit in a return load.
  • The launch is planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Why the building site needed a better pallet

Wooden pallets have long been the standard in construction. Not because they are the best choice, but because nothing better was widely available. They are heavy, hard to stack efficiently and create a lot of extra handling on site.

For Kwakman Afbouw, one of the most innovative interior finishing companies in the Netherlands, that was a problem that had to be solved. Together with Q-Pall they developed a pallet that fits the way buildings are built today.

How the Stack-Up Pallet works

  • Forty plasterboards per pallet. Each Stack-Up Pallet holds forty plasterboards.
  • In place during the shell phase. The pallets are hoisted to their destination while the shell is being built. The materials are already in the right place before the finishing crews start.
  • Ergonomic height. The pallet brings the boards to a comfortable working height for the fitters.
  • Nestable. Empty pallets slide into each other. Five to six times as many pallets fit in a return load, which saves transport costs and labour.

The result: 70% fewer walking movements on the building site, less physical strain for the fitters and a cleaner, faster workflow.

Circular design

Q-Pall makes plastic pallets from recycled plastic. The Stack-Up Pallet can be dismantled and is built for several projects in a row. At the end of its life, it becomes raw material for new pallets again. That is in line with our approach to sustainability.

What this means for contractors

The first pilots have been received very positively. The Stack-Up Pallet will be launched in the first quarter of 2027.
